TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi on Friday expressed sympathy with South Korea after a fire incident at a hospital in the country claimed the lives of at least 37 people.

In a statement, Qassemi said he was “deeply sorry” that tens of people, including patients and elderly people, lost their lives in the incident.

The incident is thought to have started in the emergency room at Sejong Hospital in the south-eastern city of Miryang. About 200 patients were inside the building and an adjoining nursing home at the time. More than 70 people were sustained injuries during the incident.
